California Chrome’s Dubai Build-Up

The 2014 Horse of the Year and previous victor in two of the Classics, California Chrome, has been continuing his preparations for the Dubai World Cup. His recent run over five furlongs at Los Alamitos Racecourse on February 27 was clocked at one minute.

To trainer Art Sherman’s satisfaction, the colt, sired by Lucky Pulpit, recorded his eighth-fastest of a total thirty-six workouts at the Southern California circuit. He earlier recorded a time of just under forty-nine seconds over four furlongs on February 21.

“He’s been pretty darn good,” commented Sherman. “He’s right on schedule.”

Owned by Perry Martin and Steve Coburn, the California-bred four-year-old, according to Sherman, will continue preparing locally before leaving for Dubai on March 17. Prior to running the $10 million World Cup on March 28, his final exercise will be a workout over the Meydan circuit’s main track.

“We’ll blow him out (in the Meydan warm-up),” said Sherman. “It won’t be too long. Probably a half-mile to get him ready.”

We expect big things from this horse in Dubai horse racing circuit.
